What's an engineering mercenary, you asked?

It can refer to a certain type of engineers in the aerospace industry. These are contract individuals who supply engineering services to an aerospace company through an agency. An executive once described them as a nomadic group of engineers who move from job to job, company to company, often going for the higher bidder. Thus mercenary is a fitting description.
